Braille Literacy Canada / Littératie braille Canada (BLC/LBC) is committed to protecting your privacy and maintaining the confidentiality of your Personal Information.

Personal Information may be provided to us through correspondence, online membership forms, conference or meeting registrations, or other forms of communication. Such information may be recorded for the purpose of processing and receipting a donation, registering or renewing your membership, registering your participation in a conference, meeting, or other event, or responding to your requests for information.

We measure visits to our website in order to improve the usability. The data we measure may contain personal information obtained from your computer such as an IP address and/or cookies. We do not link IP addresses to individuals. Your IP addresses may be used for internal research and are not provided to third parties. Any cookies issued by us only contain a unique number and therefore contain no personal data. We do not link cookies to individuals other than to recognize repeat visits.

Such information may be used by BLC/LBC in the development of our programs according to the stated purpose for which you provided the information, respecting the confidentiality of such information. This policy is binding on all personal information that you provide directly to BLC/LBC or through generic forms or processes under our auspices.

BLC/LBC will not provide or share your Personal Information with third parties unless:

  • You authorize us to share the information;
  • We are required to do so by law;
  • Any direct identifying information has been removed.

BLC/LBC may share statistical information such as provincial or national membership numbers only. Individual members' names, addresses (including E-mail), and personal financial information will not be distributed to members or other organizations or institutions.

If an individual, business or service organization etc. would like to be named or recognized publicly on our website or in our newsletter for donations in kind or financial contributions to BLC/LBC, written permission must be provided.
